Understanding Sales Funnels

You've probably been guided through one before. Your offered a free gift just by entering your email. Then, it a special deal for only a few dollars. Now that you've got your credit card out let's talk about the next great deal, and so on, and so on. These are known as sales funnels, and as fun or annoying as they may be, sales funnels work.

Sales funnels create a hands free approach to selling your brand. Starting with the understanding that a large number of the traffic source will enter with only a small number purchasing the final ticket item. However, over 60% of that traffic will leave with your branded content, and leaving behind their email address giving way to future marketing proposals.

Turning leads into paying customers
The four stages of a sale funnel
  • Awareness:  Offering a solution to a search query.  This stage establishes your brand while offering something of value, creative content without asking for anything in return.
  • Interest: Offer of more in-depth solution (informative content) in exchange for an email address, social following, or newsletter.  This is why the phrase "Content is King" is used so profoundly.
  • Decision:  The approach of a real solution.  your brand holds an existing solution to their inquiry for a special price.
  • Action:  The solution (offer) has been accepted and the sale has processed.  This is also the time to draw attention to additional solutions offered.

Now that you have an understanding of what a sale funnel is your asking yourself how it could pertain to your business and what value you could offer in the beginning stages.  We can help with ideas of what to offer for valued content and when it comes to products and goods sold the special offers are easy to figure out. When it comes to services a sales funnel can be just as effective.  Here is a list of ideas how our sales funnels can help.
Funnel Ideas
  • Painting Service:   Offer a step by step guide to repairing a drywall hole.  This bit of information can lead to a free estimate and the purchase of a special offer (ex: $10 coupon for every third gallon of paint free)
  • Plumbers:  Offer a monitoring guide (ex: water heater examinations) and tips to maintain cleaner drains. Special offer to purchase a discount drain service.
  • Electricians:  Power outage preparation guide (ex: put a couple of gallon of water in a deep freeze.  This reduces running cost and gives extra freeze time during outages.)  Special offer gets a free dimmer switch with a new light installation.
  • Waxing Center:  A guide to better looking skin.  Special offer of a free ear or nose waxing.
  • Martial Arts:  How to get away from an attacker free step by step guide.  Special one time offer of 50% first month.  On second visit only offer 10% off for three months.  Each offer is an act now purchase.
As you can see. Sales funnels work in most all industries for capturing emails and promotional sales.
